Have any of you started encoding using tmpegenc, using an avi file, and it stopped. Like I have certain files that have stopped at the same time always. Can't get them to encode.

Use vdub. Open your avi file and then use vdub as a frameserver to tmpg. I use this method myself to convert movies from rental tapes.
