  1. Hi,
I was wondering if you could help me.
I was using icecream screen recorder, and the power went out.
The file is there, but has no thumbnail, and is unplayable.
It's over 2GB in size, so data must be there, but the file is probably not properly finalised. Is there a chance I could save it?

I'm hoping you know what I could do to make the file readable and save it.

Also, do you know any better screen recorder that you would suggest?

Have a look at the video repair options in the software sections of this site.
For mp4/H.264 video, untrunc may work

  3. Thanks for the advice.
    Sadly, didn't work.
Checked the file info and it says
    Codec Id : isom (isom/iso2/avc1/mp41)

which is probably the reason why.

Hi, ive tested a few Screen Recorders, a few pretty old ones but still do an amazing job! For example VSDC Free Screen Recorder v.1.3.2.531 is really nice, it is real easy to use and it can handle virtually any codec that gets installed separately onto the computer and use it as output codec for the recording into avi or wmv (which are great formats to use with video converters into basicly any format, there are many versions avalible but i only tested 1.3.2.531). Ellse ScreenRec v.3.0.0 is pretty nice with the online storage and this red thing flashing during the recording to make it look cool and help give notice to any possible viewer that it is an screen recording going on! It come included with 3gb storage or maybe it is 5gb but require an account, without account there is 5 minute recording limit.

And for the broken video i dont know, only thing i recall was some type of Windows Media Center people had some sort of network solution to compile/fix/build/unlock videos back to their normal/previous state and allso to complete an phase when it had failed! I think they came connecting thru some sort of solution thru the media center or media player after i had unlocked/activated some sort of network feature to give them access! It took maybe 30 seconds and the video was fixed and dashed back to my desktop!
