I recently had my hitachi dv-p 250U replaced because, even though the 250 played everything, it was a piece of unfixable garbage that was replaced by the dealer with the new hitachi dv-p325. It is an excellant player that so far plays everything you can throw at it BUT NOT SVCD. I would like to know if anyone knows a hack out there to get this going, or region codes for that matter. Any help would be appreciated.

You can use the "old" trick :-)
TMPGEnc -> MPEG Tools -> Simple Multiplex
Work for my DV-P323 ......... -
Dear Mamamia:
I also found out my DVD player (Hitachi DV-315U) will not play VCDs. Could you please explain the "old trick" in a little more detail? I really appreciate your help. Thanks. -
Here is the steps:
1 Goto file/MPEG tools
2 Select 'simple multiplex'
3 Select type 'MPEG-1 Video-CD'
4 video input 'YOUR MPEG FILE'
5 Output 'DESTINATION FOR YOUR FINISHED FILE'
6 Run
7 burn it wth non-standard VCD format
note: make sure that when you insert your file into the 'video input' that
the select type option doesn't spring to 'MPEG2 program'. If it does then
click 'MPEG-1 Video-CD' again. -
I was doing great until I got to step 7. How do I burn in non-standard VCD format?
-
Just burn to CD using Nero or any other burning tool that will burn VCD's ......
Note: If Nero ask you to re-encode it, don't do it and let Nero burn it
directly. -
So the "non-standard" format is not a necessity? Just burn as usual?
