always click cd info before burning, maybe its a crap media, or your bueners gone. But its definetly one of these.

  4. say buh-bye, to the burner...
I bought a new plextor scsi 12x when they first came out...after eight months, these power calibration errors occured, tried six different brands of media, no go...sent it back they replaced it with another one....

so if its under warranty contact the reseller or company directly. If not, you're ready for a new 32x or 40x , these days....they're affordable

  6. Meh... prolly just shitty media.

Are you using a CDRW that has been burned a few times? If so, do a "full" erase and try again.

If it keeps giving you the same error every time, though, that means your burner is toast.

  8. Burning CD or DVD? I get these on 1 out of every 2 of the cheap disks from www.cd-dvd-supplies.com (the 1.99 jobbies). Their 2.99 disks I've never had a problem with.

  10. I get this "power calibration error" now too, but only with Ulead DVD MovieFactory and Workshop. I have tried several types of media, but it says the same thing every time. However, the media works fine in Nero, CDRWin, and every other burning software. I'm wondering if it's just an error message they popup to make it seem like it's the burner or media's fault, when in reality the software just doesn't support the burner!

  11. I get this error when I use cheap dvd-r media from cd-recordable.com and only when I try to burn at 2X. The error always occurs within the first 15 seconds. I then reset the burn to 1X and the result is fine and plays fine also. Some of cd-rec.com's dvds give the 2X option in nero but only about 25% that give option will be successfully burned at 2X on my dvr-103. However the last batch did not give 2X option, guess they are tweaking each batch.
If anyone is interested my dvr-103 with 1.65 firmware will burn an Imation dvd-r at 2X.
