Hi,
Can anyone tell me what would be the optimal bitrate for a SVCD given a particular bitrate for the source DiVx. I have a DiVx which I believe was encoded at a 1000 KBPS bitrate. What the max bitrate I can use for a SVCD beyond which I would just increase file size and not quality??

No. It really depends on how the DivX was encoded. If done properly with DivX 5 Pro from a quality source then it should be very high quality. So if you encoded at 2520 kbps CBR it is unlikely you would get a better SVCD. However, you could get a much smaller SVCD by using variable bitrate encoding. Why not run a few tests and see what bitrate you need to get equivalent quality?
