A few years ago I took a few pictures with my mobile phone and shared online but after some time I finally realized that every picture contained my GPS location in the properties, in other words, my location could be found out from the picture which was definitely not my intention. I understand that I switched ON location service for the camera but as an average user, I really wasn't conscious about that. Now, I am always being careful when taking pictures with a mobile phone.

I'd like to know if this could happen to video format too? COULD video format of any kind or video taken by mobile devices contain any precise location information if not configured properly?

  2. Yes, videos can include GPS location metadata too.

It's a feature, which can be used to your advantage or disadvantage.

You can choose to disable the feature altogether, which would preclude anyone using it to your disadvantage, but then you would not be able to use it for your advantage.

Another thing you could do is just use a tool to strip the metadata and only share the metadata-stripped copies online.
