  1. Okay guys I need an idea on this. How much space do I need on average to rip a DVD? What movies have you done and how much space have you needed as examples. I have 11.6 Gig free on my hard drive. Thanks again.

  3. Been watching VOB size for a couple of months now after purchasing DVD burner and have found that most older movies will probably be less than 4.5 gigs, and newer movies about 6 or 7 gigs. The max I believe is 9 gigs or so...you should be OK in most cases, unless your transcoding to MPEG2. In which you may need almost as much space for your encoded video as your ripped files.

  4. ObiWan,

I suggest that you get more HD space. My largest rip so far has been 8.5 GB. While this is within 11.6GB you still need room to strip the IFO and or reauthor the movie.

I agree. My largest was over 7GB. However once I got into the conversions and Audio additions the space needed quickly grew. However, If you work around and can do things in small steps you could make do with what you have. But if you want to comfortabily convert I'd get a little more space.
