I just found a program called DUP-DVD, they say it will convert and burn your DVD movies to CDRW in VCD or SVCD format. It looks nice and easy. I was wondering if anyone has used it and if so how do you like it? Also I am planning on buying a DVD ROM reader for my PC running Win2k would like advice on what one to buy? I would like to start burning my own DVDs.![]()
The program I am asking about lives here

Hello There !
I tried it, it's not worth it !
You can convert from DVD to VCD or SVCD with just a few clicks, no ripping, frameserving or encoding necessary, but it takes forever and your DVD-ROM will gradually BURN, unless you rip before converting, but quality sucks anyway.
By the way, the official site is www.dup-dvd.com! Viva Mexico ! -
check this scam site out...they don't even know how to spell 'pales in comparison' bunch of idiots. So many of these rip off sites cropping up. Guess there are more suckers out there than we realized.

Spicy Comet has been often imitated by several "fly by night" type companies. While the marketing efforts of these companies are similar, their product pails in comparison -
i have it, and use it. i think it works fine. i do however use claddvd to rip it to my hard drive first, then use dup-dvd to create the *.mpg files, then nero to burn them to cd.
this method has worked for me over and over again with pretty good results. however, it is very, i repeat VERY important that you rip the dvd to your hard drive before using dup-dvd. if you dont, you will burn up your dvd drive in no time ! -
I've tried it. I think the program sucks balls. The VCD's & SVCD's it creates drop sound and frames all the time. The result is a chopping looking movie with shitty sound. Don't get dupped by Dup-DVD.

i have certainly heard others say the same type of thing. i guess i must be one of the lucky ones cause i dont have any of those problems. there is no question that its not as good as dvd, however, comparativly, they are pretty darn good.

Dup-DVD is one for the less abled newbies with money to burn. I suggest downloading the free DVDx which is much better but requires the right codecs but CladDVD XP and Tmpgenc are a much better solution.
