Ross, you are a stud. Thanks ! I have been waiting for something like this for months.

Can you give us details on how we need to incorporate the other files that are needed to do the encoding ?

Also, can you direct me to a resource so that I can learn how to use Applescript to build front ends ?

  3. The ReadMe file included with the MpegMissingTools has links to MediaPipe and the mpeg encoder. The other tools are built-in.

Due to mpeg licensing, you will have to install the Dev Tools, free from Apple, to compile the encoder. When QT 6 is released, we may be able to ship the encoder pre-compiled and built-in.

The Developer Tools includes ProjectBuilder, InterfaceBuilder and AppleScript Studio with samples.

Be sure to always check the site for updates to MpegMissingTools, as I have been adding features and bug fixes almost daily.

    Thanks

  4. I agree, rnc's tools are great, exactly what we need now that the underlying unix programs are starting to get ported. Thanks!

I would like to second the request for pointers to information on creating AppleScript frontends like MpegMissingTools, just someplace to get started. My own pet project (once I can get my Formac Studio running properly) is to try to script up a "VCR" app that can capture from the TV signal and then send the result through the various processes to encode and ready them for burning. A little Applescript traffic director application should be within my capabilities if there were some example code to work with.

  5. Thanks Paul,
That's quite a honor coming from you. Considering I cut my teeth with your process last September.

AppleScript Studio opens the door for the novice developer (like me).
If your like me, you learned html by seeing things that look close to what you want to do, then inspect the code to see how they did it, same with script. Apple does host a searchalbe discussion forum also. If you want to see my code, just let me know.

  8. I haven't been able to make an SVCD because MediaPipe 0.7.6 keeps crashing. I haven't been able to use it with a 4-GB movie exported from iMovie, but a 1-GB file worked fine. Has anyone else had problems with large files and MediaPipe? I even tried replacing the Crop&Scale pipe with the Scale pipe, but it still didn't work. I used MMT 0.7 to build the pipeline. Thanks in advance for any help.

  9. Nevermind - for some strange reason, hiding MediaPipe seems to have made it work.
