Hi guys:
I'm new to video capture but for the past two weeks I've been reading a lot from this forum, which is (in my opinion) the best source for video in the net. Anyway...this is my problem:
I'm trying to create an SVCD from 8mm tapes taken with a Sony TRV37. For capturing I use an Asus V8200 Deluxe (Gforce 3). I’ve been capturing videos using Virtual dub with a resolution of 480x480 and 29.97 fps and following step by step the instructions posted on this page but……If I use the Huffyuv codec the capture video will come out with the “comb effect” and de-interlace does nothing at all….and if I use PicVideo is even worse. I’m not dropping any frames….. I want to see the video in my TV (Sony Wega 36”) so I tried burning the cue’s created using both methods and see if the lines will disappear but after 10 CD’s I realized something was not working right. I also burned a Cue file from “Alien” that is posted on the website and that one came out super good…..as a matter of fact it looks like a DVD.
I don’t know where my problem could be….capturing or encoding…..I’m confused with this resolution thing of 480x480 because the only CD that actually played on my DVD (Sony DVP-500V) was not taking the whole screen…..it looked more like a square and black stripes on both sides…..can anybody with similar equipment give me a hand?…..thanks in advance
