Hey guys, I have a video card that I bought off ebay. I forgot what brand it is, and it doesn't say on the card itself. But I know it is a nvidia 32mb 3d card with tv out. I attempted to connect the computer to the tv using a 6 inch svideo cable, connected to a rca to svideo converter, with a rca video cable connected from it to my tv, and I didn't get any picture. What was I doing wrong? Do I need to buy a special cable without the converter? Is there a software program or specific setting that I have to use? I appreciate any and all responses.

  2. I don't know if they work the same, but let me give you an idea how I do it with my ATI AIW card, and maybe there might be some similarities.

First of all, make sure everything is connected. I had a problem once with TV-out and found that it was because I had knocked the plug from the video card to the cable out during cleaning.

    1) I open the video settings for my computer. You can do this by right-clicking on an empty area of your desktop, or Start/ Settings/ Control Panel/ Display.

    2) I go to the Settings tap, and at the bottom there is a button "Advanced", I click on that button.

    3) In the new window, I go to the Display tab. There is two displays there - my monitor and my TV.

    4) I click on the the little icon on the top left of the television display, and that starts my TV-out.

Like I said this might not be helpful, bacause I do have a different video card, but they might be similar. Let me know if it does help.

I did what you suggested, and I didn't see any extra options. I thought that was odd, and I remembered that I didn't get any drivers with the card, so I went to nvidia.com, and downloaded the latest drivers, and now I have all type of options available when I click the advanced tab!
Thanks a lot for taking the time out to answer my question, I sure appreciate it bro!!

    Hi,

My experience with nVidia cards suggests that you need the correct drivers for the card. You could try nVidia's reference drivers (from www.nvidia.com). It should support your card as it is an all-in-one driver.

Also, you probably need to switch the card from "monitor-out" to "video-out". Most cards don't support both at once (the card would have to have two sets of video hardware to do so (like Matrox Dual-Heads)

Yeah, you are probably right. I will have to buy the svideo to rca cable again so that I can test it out. I'm sure that it will work now that I have downloaded the all in one driver. Thanks for your response.
