Hello. I am a newbie to video converting project and need some experts' suggestion.

Goal: Convert MKV file to ISO file - use regular DVD player to watch the Old TV show on TV
I was going to use MKVextractGUI2 and DVD Flick for this project.
For the test, I used the same MKV file.

    What I did so far:
    1. Download and Installed; MKVtoolnix4.3.0 and MKVextractGUI2-2.2.1
    2. Run MKVextractGUI2 for Video track ← Done successfully
    3. Run MKVextractGUI2 for Audio track ← Failed
(In the "Tracks" window within the GUI, I can see all tracks with check boxes.
I can click on the box fine, says "Extracted," but actually the audio track never gets extracted.)

Since MKVextractGUI2 was unsuccessful, I then did the following.
    4. Downloaded and Installed;MKVcleaver0.5.0.0
    5. Run MKVcleaver for Audio track ← Failed
(same problem as above - "Extract Now" button never gets highlighted in the GUI. I couldn't click on the button.)

    Next,
    6. Downloaded and Installed; MKVextractGUI1.6.4.1
    7. Run MKVextractGUI1for Audio track ← Failed
(same problem as above - pop up error message indicating "this is not extractable? track" shows up)
Before GUI1 was installed, GUI2 was removed from the MKVtoonix folder, but I did not remove MKVcleaver.

Is there way to extract the audio track from MKV?

    Audio
    - Codec? of the target MKV files are;
    (A) Windows Media Audio 44100Hz stereo 64Kbps
    (B) MPEG Audio Layer 3 48000Hz mono 64Kbps
    (C) MPEG Audio Layer 3 48000Hz mono 56Kbps
    (D) MPEG Audio Layer 3 24000Hz stereo 40Kbps
    (E) AAC 48000Hz stereo
    (F) Dolby AC3 48000Hz stereo

    I tested with a DivX5, 320x240, 23.98fps MKV file that has a type (B) audio track.

Could anyone have any idea what is wrong? and how I can solve this problem?
Please give me a suggestion and I will test anything.

    p.s.
I found my mom's favorite TV show (from 20+ years ago) online.
Downloaded the entire episodes. Now, I want to convert them to ISO so I can burn the DVD for her to watch on TV.
(Unfortunately, Mom is not a PC person)

    Thanks in a million!!

    Hi
I don't know why you're unable to extract the audio track.

But why don't you just use the mkv files with dvdflick ?
Is there a reason why you're extracting the tracks from the mkv files?

    Hello.

My plan was to use some Free Software (i.e., MKVextractGUI) to remove subtitle from the MKV file, and
use the extracted Video and Audio tracks in a DVD Flick to create ISO file.
I searched online for "How to remove subtitle from MKV"and found the MKVexractGUI.

I just discovered the audio track of the test file is encoded? with 'A_MS/ACM' format? and
"MKVcleaver0.5.0.0" does not support CodecID 'A_MS/ACM.'
Which probably means MKVextractGUI2-2.2.1 and MKVextractGUI1.6.4.1 also won't support it.
And, that was why my test did not work.

Does this mean I need a specific "converter?" which supports 'A_MS/ACM' format to extract the audio track from MKV?

In that case, is there any free or shareware that supports 'A_MS/ACM' and does exactly what I want?
I am searching online, but, perhaps using the incorrect keyword. Any Suggestion?

    Oh, one more note.
I have no idea what A_MS/ACM is all about.
Like I said above, I am newbie and do not know if I am doing in a right order or using wrong software, etc.
I can, however, with a suggestion, able to conduct additional online search, educate myself a bit more, and
maybe able to finish my project someday (sooner the better, though)?

    OK
I understand now why you wanted to extract the video and audio tracks - to leave behind the subtitle track.

Maybe you can't extract the audio track because A_MS/ACM is not recognized by the programs that you used.
As you said:- "MKVcleaver0.5.0.0" does not support CodecID 'A_MS/ACM'.

    There's an explanation for A_MS/ACM here:-http://www.matroska.org/technical/specs/codecid/index.html
A_MS/ACM Microsoft(TM) Audio Codec Manager (ACM) The private data contains the ACM structure WAVEFORMATEX including the extra private bytes, as defined by Microsoft. The data are stored in little endian format (like on IA32 machines).
    Try this method instead.
Use the MKVMergeGUI program (It's known as mmg)
    Part of the MKVToolnix package.
    from here:-http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/docs.html

Use it to create a new mkv file containing only the video and audio tracks.

Then see if dvdflick will accept your new mkv file.
