Hi all
I dont want to sound desperate but pulling my hair out , have a lovely set up and a simple problem is really holding me back , I have cyberlink powerdirector as my editing program , Now i know how hard it is to explain sometimes so i will be leaving a link to a video someone done for me explaining (also i will put when to watch from saves sitting watching for ages )
OK ive done a video of me playing guitar , and ive done some tabulature in a tab writing software ,, Have recorded the screen so i can put my tab at the bottom of my guitar vid (no problem) i only want part of my screen capture so i go to mask tool again shouldnt be a prob
Apart from when you go to mask it puts a line all the way round the whole capture , which i can grab sides top etc pull it in,,
i just want to mask part of the capture ,,
Honest ive been getting up in morn and not going to sleep to early hours just because the program dosnt do this 9 minutes well 8 minutes 55 secs and onwards ,,,,
ill be your friend forever if you can solve this thankyou soooo much youtube.com/watch?v=3Ezmlc_kSPI

I submit you may be better served on this question by joining and asking at the Cyberlink volunteer forum.

I am not familiar with your program - I guess there are not many here that use it.
But.....
A 'mask' is by definition to hide something. So by creating a mask from within a video editor hides the part that is not the active screen.
The video you linked to appears not to be using PowerDirector. Indeed it is probably much more sophisticated. It appears to 'overlay' the tabs video on to the active screen so you have effectively two videos on one screen. The overlay does not affect that part of the screen - the actual guitar playing - since there is no mask. Most NLEs allow for an overlay track. I just do not know if that is available in PowerDirector since the overlay must be independent of the main in order to line them up. -
Hi thanks for that ,, you can imagine how frustrated i was , he makes it look so easy , and as you said hes not using cyberlink , i dont think cyberlink does what i require as ive been trying?g again all day ,, would you suggest i get VEGAS ?? I appreciate the prompt reply
take care ,, what program do people on here use ?? very kind regards Jim -

Vegas comes in several versions but I suspect you would require the Pro Version to achieve what that video is doing.
More people on here would use Vegas than other NLE's but do check out the software section of this site as there are now some quite good (and free) video editors.
Vegas is quite expensive. Especially if you are not going to use it much. But it is on special offer right now.
