I was wondering what soime of you guyz use to download movies. I am using the new version of imesh which is awesome and morpheus for music. (it is down right now)
I have found that i can not find some old movies in these file sharing programs such as dead poet's society, with honors, how stella got her groove back, jason's lyric, schindler's list.....ANYONE know how or which program i can most likely find some rare movies in??

Kazaa Lite is most likly to download what you want
Bearshare most likly to have it.
I have a long bearshare que though -
Ok, here's my take winmx is by far the best p2p.I downloaded death to smochy(not even on Imesh yet) today from a guy with a t3 connection and it took 15 minutes at 130Kb/s (kinda slow-lol)I'm almost done converting part 1 to vcd.I must say that I'm new to computers and just found out about p2p (oct2001)when I first got my computer I also tried morpeus, limewire, kazaa, and Imesh.I did a comparison test with a Limp Bizkut's song and got between 50-100 on kazaa and around 1000 on winmx. Now that I got into downloading movies I like Imesh (2nd) because of simutaneous downloading from multiple userers, and kazaa (3rd)cause when someone goes offline it automatically goes to the next person who has the same file(Ithink the file name has got to be the same word for word). There are few minor problems with winmx though there are no file info on movies like kazaa or Imesh, and if someone goes offline you have to manually find someone else to resume your download from most people are considerate though and don't shut there computers down when someone's uploading from them, and the last some people don't share unless you trade a movie with them(getting better though). I may not be an expert at converting yet but I hope this helps. Your friend Ed. P.S. Can anyone tell me how to put info on my movie file when using Imesh? P.S.S.can anyone tell me what they think of bearshare compared to my favorite three? P.S.S.S. sorry about my long winded post !

you guys and the gui p2p file sharing programs, morpheus, kazaaa, imesh, they all suck.
Irc---->websites----->p2p(morpheus, kazaaa, imesh)
thats the way things get released. Why not get it from the source?? Sure keep using those crappy p2p programs if you like waiting the extra time for it to show up there, no to mention the time it takes to dl crap off of there(yippy im getting almost 40k/sec). -

WinMX, most of the connections time out or have to keep getting queued. Don't see how anyone would get too much in the way of the big movie files there.
Gonna see about edonkey2000, which along with WinMX is not suppose to have spyware. -
good channels?? Ive been using mirc for over a year now, and finally im getting the good quality. You can just expect to start using it today, and find the best channels right away, you have to work up to that stage. Start by using dalnet servers, you can do searches for things, such as vcd, svcd, games, what ever. Sooner or later you will have found channels you like. In time you will find some where you can pick up a complete svcd dvd rip(2.2gig) in under 3hrs. If you dont start using it, your never going to figure it out.

EDonkey is some SH!t.
If you limit ur uploads, it restricts your downloads.
So you have 50 people uploading off you at full speed, and your download is going at .50kps on a cable modem.
And the worst part is they aren't even downloading a full file. -
IRC is useless... all these "famous" channels don't come up when I search, and even finding a node in is a sincere PAIN.
My suggestion is going to sound pointless, but here goes.
Use them all.
You're going to find that some programs will do better at X and some better at Y. Like, for instance, you might find more people with .mp3's using Grokster, Kazaa etc than you might on Gnutella.
So, it's probably a good idea to have several programs on hand, each dealing with a different network.
I personally use Grokster for the Kazzaa/Morpheus network, Xolox for Gnutella searches (can do downloads from multiple users, like Grokster), and I have played around with "Direct Connect", though that is not only buggy, but often you'll spend hours (like IRC) trying to find SOMEONE with SOMETHING, and then let YOU download it... I don't like asking permission before I download a file...
To Re-iterate, IRC SUCKS! -
I'm going to turn this around, and maybe we can get som REAL help going here...
OKAY...
Is there any specific structure to file names on IRC? That is, are there any "standards" in the way a VCD or SVCD is named on "#EFFING" chat room? I know when you simply type in "SVCD" or "MPEG", you get absolute squat... -
stick with the crappy p2p gui programs your use to then. See thats one thing i dont get about this website, its suppose to be the place to come to get information on vcd/svcd, but seems like most of the folks arent even getting stuff from the source. You talk about how long it takes you to get something off of mirc, give me a break. Name the movie thats been ripped, and it could be downloaded within a few hours. You use kazaa, morpheus, imesh, or what ever crappy program like those, and you never know what your getting, you dont get the option to download a sample of it, you dont get the movie in bin and que, so you dont get all the extra options that usually come with svcds, or did you not realize that alot of svcds have extras on them now, deleted scenes, trialers, comentator track, ect. Do what you like, but i have see the products that come from the p2p's and mirc, there is a big difference.

Hey my first time useing mIRC was like about a month ago and i have a list of great channels to get stuff....i have about 70 places where to get things an irc has been great for my mp3 downloads of hard to find songs and only a month of useing it....i styll do use P2p use KaZaZ Lite
-
It all depends on what you want to get. If you want to be the first person to get something NEW, you need to go to one of the many irc channels. (I use mIRC, and usually just search through channels on dalnet). If you want older files or hard to find files, I usually turn to Hotline. Hotline has many servers that people run off their computer and allow you to download from them. They will typically have files later than mIRC, but they will have many more worthwhile files than IRC. And if all you are looking for is some type of small program, music sharing program, just stick to the ones previously described. (morpheus, gnutella, winmx, kazaa, etc.)
Hope that helped,

ME mate shizzzon, if you havent heard, has a 27 page guide for newbies that will teach us how to use mirc and what all the commands and advanced commands to use.
Also, as a bonus, he did some research for us and has on there the top 1000 servers\channels to go to on mIRC to get any type of file we want.
If we want it, we can just get in contact with him, me so glad me did, mirc was hard at first, but now, it's the best thing ever. -
well I don't get it you guys ar all bad mouthing p2p programs and hell I don't like the fact that the downloads are sometimes slow, but I tried not once but twice to go onto an irc and the first time I went on and I got nothing but a blank screen no instructions or anything and the second time I got a message saying that I was a spy and they were going to track me down and kill me. No I know that would never happen but wow such nice people-NOT. I really don't get why athere is all that secret lingo BS. # this #that wht gives?
Hey if one of you guys are willing to help me to understand irc then I'm game I've only got two strikes and it takes three to make an out.
Thanks in advance VCD4MEWe were all NEWBIES once and the only stupid question is the one that's not asked? -
very true VCD4ME. im sure irc would be tops if people could actually use it.
i too would like to understand how to use this non-user friendly piece of software.later bater. deltaboy -
IRC is just sooo complicated if you don't know the commands...
I started messing with IRC a few months ago and played with it for ages and got nowhere.
If you really want to get in on it then the best thing would be to jump on one of the numerous Dalnet Help For Newbies channels and ask away....
You need to know all sorts of silly commands like !list , get , dcc and you need to know about triggers.
Triggers are what you may see coming up on a channell screen in loads of different colours and will look something like
TRIGGER(!vipermp3z) and this will be in the middle of LOADS of other information like slots free and such......
You would then type in whatever the trigger was and then a chat window would open with a download for you......
download the file and open it in worpad to get a list of whatever there was available from there.
Then you would have to start messing about with dir commands to get into the directory folders and then after all this messing about you need to actually get the file....
After you have given the instruction to get the file you need to accept it by typing something like dccallow and apparrently then your download will start.
If you leave the channell your download will be terminated...
This is all off my bad experience memory of trying to get a file off IRC about 6 months ago.
I never got one...........
My advice......
Stick to Kazaa Lite....
Much easier.
PS>There are so many malicious people on there flooding rooms with virii it's unbelievable........... -
stick with the p2p gui programs then. Just as napster got shut down, so will kazaa, morpheus, bearshare, and any others that pop up. Your right, mIRC isnt an easy program to use, and thats the only thing stopping you??? I guess that way only the ones who deserve the quality goods get it.
If you connect to DalNet, there are help rooms for newbies. they will show you everything you need to know, what commands are required. I just cant beleive that on this site, people are usuing those crappy p2p programs. I always thought this was the place for those who knew what they were doing, guess i was wrong. -
hey! whats with the bashing?
ya know, we wouldnt need these forums if we had all the answers. why do you come here? obviousy, you need some help with vid capping.
i hope you got your ?s answered here and not bemeaned like some of us.later bater. deltaboy -
Slag me off as much as you want m8......
Don't care.
A am happy with my p2p clients so far and do not feel the need to fry my brain any more than I need to.
Sure IRC is probably easy enough when you know what you are doing and I am probably just missing one little link in the chain.
While you are at it why don't you have a go for us not using newsgroups as well.....
Ask me if I am bothered... -
I'm amazed that everyone here badmouths IRC. You complain about how hard it is to use. Just because IRC doesn't have cool little pictures, or you can't just click a button to download a file, doesn't mean that it is bad. What i'm trying to say is that it may look hard to use to someone who just got on it, but after about 30 mins, you'll get the hang of it. It really isn't that hard, and you can get better files at usually a faster speed. Just give it a chance, don't let the looks discourage you.

Brief time I played with mIRC, awhile back, it seemed much harder to find what you wanted. And it seemed there was some communications necessary for someone to send you a file.
File sharing programs have some niceties like an easy front end to search files and some features like queing.
Hotline made you jump thru all kinds of hoops which in itself wasn't bad. But then they didn't exactly have the stuff advertised and they would change accounts every day, which was a drag when you had big downloads you needed several sessions for. And it wasn't simple banner-clickings. You had to register an email name so that involved setting up a lot of hotmail accounts. -
Well I like the vast supermarket of warez known as usenet, a couple of fxp boards as well.
Why do you hate p2p so much mrpink, I love them (never use them)
The newbs flock to them, the media covers them more than our ways and thats good.
Let the impatient leeches have their p2p's just as long as they stay out of our groups and channels. -
Well I started by chattin on IRC.. cause well thats what it is, (Internet Relay Chat).. its not a file sharing program.. probaly why it discourages ppl. Hell I was about 15 when I starting chatting, I read the help files that come with mIRC to understand things... actualy made a war script haha but thats another story, anyway ive taught myself how to do pretty much everything.. by reading alot. Yup, thats right. With p2p progs you dont really have to read anything just click on things. Wich is easier and better for the newbie. But your always going to be a newbie unless you choose to read and learn.. mIRC comes with nifty help files.. the rooms you go in are chatting rooms.. why it is so hard to find what you are looking for... its not meant for file sharing.. sure it has DCC so you can send ppl files.. but im sure the creator didn't intend for this to happen.. but im glad it did
Hell, I first started in the porn channels.. haha. Anyway, at first I didn't know shit.. but because I kept reading I know more.. but still have lots I dont understand.. im just saying.. im tired of the lazy ppl who refuse to read and help themselves.. but p2p progs aren't that bad. You can search for sumthing alot faster then on mIRC instead of going through everybody's fileservers.. but you dont get the interaction with ppl.. I find ppl on IRC that will trade with u and u become friends and will just give u shit, and when you have shit, you give it to them.. basically chating
Well, just saying that there both good... but dont rely on them too much, they wont always be there. mIRC is more underground.. and i SUPPOSE it is harder to use... i dont think so. yes there are ******** on mirc but thats just like in real life.. there are ******** everywhere trying to cause problems for u. So if you READ you'll be ready for whatever they try to do to you. mIRC lets you type commands.. so you have more freedom on what you do.. these commands are simple and can be written down.. or they can be found in the help file... just like linux has more power then windows.. windows is just easier to use.. so ppl buy them (so do i) cause yes typing the commands does get annoying... but the more you know the easier it will become.. with mirc you can download "addons" and they do differant things... www.mircx.com and I've installed this fserver addon that lets u see things in a GUI so its much faster i can click on ppl's files or DIR and it'll type the command for u (wich is wut windows does) but also with it i cannot ty pe other commmands that aren't in there.. such as top10, read, stats...etc... i dunno what my point is really, guess im just tying to get through to the ppl who rely on things such as p2p and windows for everything.. and think typing commands is hard.. because its not.
Yes media does cover p2p wich is good! hahahaha.. i'v never really heard anything about IRC or mIRC. Its a chatting program and thats probaly why. Wich means the file sharing is more underground sence its a chatting program!anyway, i like p2p and mirc.. but i hope the media keeps targeting p2p instead
