Ok my Matshita dvd-rom SR-8586 drive is firmware locked to region 2.![]()
I have read that it can be "flashed" to make it region free.![]()
I went here:
http://perso.club-internet.fr/farzeno/firmware/
and got this:
Patched 3X24 RPC-1 firmware PC version
I also found a how-to step-by-step guide here:
http://forum.firmware-flash.com/viewthread.php?tid=49
But I was hoping someone here may have already done this?
Or someone could give me advice on how to do it properly?
My firmware is 3G15.
I am scared of messing up my drive completely![]()
Any advice / suggestions?
Many thanks
p.s. part of the guide says this:
(5) At the "A:\>" command prompt type:
DWL2 X YYYY.BIN [then press Return]
-- EXCEPT that for "X" you substitute the number you determined in stage (4), and and for "YYYY.BIN" you substitute the name of the firmware file you wish to flash. The program will then flash the firmware to the drive. Let it do its work and don't fiddle with the mouse or keyboard. When it has finished switch off your machine (don't just "Reset" it).
Does that mean that for me "YYYY.BIN" should be "3G15.BIN" ?
Again thanks and excuse my paranoia.....

Sorry admin, I think I posted this in the wrong forum.
Not sure which forum it should go in? Maybe "Software Playing"?
