  2. there are a few ways audio can be off-

One- if u r dvd ripping, do NOT use force film in dvd 2 avi
two- NEVER encode using 23.976 fps as ur fps unless wmp 6.4 specifies it as being 100% film in statistics.
three- make sure the following is used TOGETHER-

    352x240 fps- 29.97
    352x288 fps- 25
    480x480 fps- 29.97
    480x576 fps- 25

four- maybe u merged 2 mpgs together but you do not know how to properly do that yet?

  3. I followed the exact directions on vcd help. I downloaded a file in AVI on grokster. Actually I tried 3 different files and all of them started off with the adio matching the video, but by the end of the file, the audio is off. So... it starts off fine, but as it plays it goes off. Have you ever heard that happeneing? PLease let me know, because this is making me insane! thanks so much!

  4. As Ali G WiKiT tries to pint out, when encoding avi to vcd you have to be sure that you select the correct TmpGenc VCD template that matches the avi in terms of framerate. I suggest you open the .avi in virtual dub and look at file properties from the File menu. Note the framerate.

    23.97 fps NTSCFilm
    25 fps PAL
    23.97fps NTSC

Then select the matching VCD template in TmpGenc and encode.

I suspect that you were taking a NTSC film .avi (which many Divx DVD rips are) and encoding to Pal.

If you find that the matching framerate template is a format that your DVD player/TV cannot handle then you will have to learn how to convert NTSC to PAL or vice versa. This is a difficult and time consuming process but can be done. Look to the HowTo's for help. Rememebr tho, if you are in Europe and using Pal, nearly all Pal DVD players and the vast majority of TV's sold in the last few years will quite happily handle NTSC signals, so dont rush into converting formats unless you are sure you have to.

  5. when u save the wav with virtualdub, open the wav with winamp and uncompress the wav. use that new wav file u created with winamp. if its still out of sync, try using the panasonic mpeg1 encoder, its great

  7. use ntscfilm if the frame rate of your avi is 23.976, if it is then yea use that.

  8. i just noticed while looking at the file information in virtual dub that the video frames and audio frames are different.. for example.. it says 38937 frames for video and 38923 for video.. why is this

  9. yea for some reason the audio and video frames are always different. but that shouldnt matter

  10. should i try using a different ntscfilm #? meaning.. the file i am trying to encode is 30.014. i am using the wrong... should i try a different template than the 29.970? becuase this is probably the problem. i am selecting the wrong one.. i think
this is making my brain hurt

  11. your movie is 30 fps? i never had a movie with 30.014 but i suggest you use NTSC which is 29.970. it's close enough to 30

  12. yes.. its 30.014.. i guess thats why its not working there are so many different things i can try to fix this, but i can't preview it with sound, so its hard to do. it should just WORK! this shouldnt have to be so difficult! it seems like im doing everything correct. also the FPS size is very wierd for this one and its not an option to choose. maybe i can change that

  13. FINALLY! I figured out the problem. using files that say 30.014 doesnt work... I just tried an episode of south park that was 29.970 and it worked perfecty. AUDIO AND VIDEO PERFECTLY IN SYNC! Now ill just have to figure out what NTSC template to use for the 30.014 files...

    thanks everyone for your help
