  1. Good day all.

I'm hoping someone can give me some direction with which software to use.

Here's my scenario, my partner works with people with learning difficulties who are also deaf.
I'm wanting to shoot a fire drill/ instruction video with the service users and create a video with a person using sign language to one side of the video, on screen
I have multiple cams for recording but they all shoot in different formats.

So do I convert everything to the same format before I edit or import them as is,
I'm hoping to use 4 cameras, plus audio from two separate mics and a voiceover/ subtitles.
And I'm wondering which software to add the person signing along with the video.

I'm not totally new to working with video but I've not done much in a very log time, I would prefer free software as i'm doing this as a favour but I know i'm expecting a lot,

Is this a one-take live event that requires 4 cameras, or can it be shot film-style, single camera? Also, why resort to a sign-language person when on-screen subtitles would probably work even better?

  3. I can shoot single camera if I have to but it would be harder.
The service users have learning difficulties and are deaf and they will be the stars of the video. Its all about them how to raise the alarm and what to do etc.
Due to the nature of there disabilities some cant read but can sign, that's why I was hoping to put a sign language person in the video.

Would it be easier to put the signer as picture in picture rather than out of the frame?

  4. To answer my own question I think I was overcomplicating it in my own head as ive not done much video editing in years.

I've got a copy of cyberlink Power Director 13 that I stopped using as it had problems with the audio from my dashcam. This is still quite adequate to do what I want and the picture in picture couldn't be easier.
