Is there a newer program that does what Tsunami DVD Author does? Not simply a drag&drop dvd creator, but something that allows me to cut or crop files as I go?
And is compatible with Windows 7?

What about DVD Styler? or Open DVD Producer? or WinX DVD Author?

Preferably freeware, but not necessarily a deal-breaker.

    Thanks

TMPGEnc Authoring Works 5 is the newest software from TMPGEnc, which also created Tsunami DVD Author. Like Tsunami DVD Author, it includes a smart-rendering editor. It has a free trial, so you can try before you buy.

I don't know of any free authoring software which includes a built-in editor. I have used a few of them (but never WinX DVD Author or Open DVD Producer), and in each case it was necessary to edit with another program prior to authoring.

I need a video editing/dvd author program for Windows 7. I've been using Tsunami DVD Author on Windows XP. I like Tsunami DVD Author, but apparently it is not compatible with Windows 7.

Will Avidemux do basically the same thing as DVDAuthor? What I mainly need is the ability to place chapters where I need them, and then output a DVD file for burning to a disc.

I don't need any filters or special effects.

  6. Are you sure? Have you tried installing using the compatibility modes?

    http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/10436/using-program-compatibility-mode-in-windows-7/

'Avidemux is a free video editor designed for simple cutting, filtering and encoding tasks'
    - it isn't a dvd authoring program.
