    I wonder if anybody has any good experience with a repair shop still working on VHS machines in either Germany or UK?

    Do an Ebay search for "S-VHS or SVHS" in Germany only. Sort by Highest Price First and check out the sellers. Many of the high ranked sellers are selling machines as refurbished or reconditioned WITH warranties.....maybe these sellers are repairing these machines themselves and selling them. Ask them if they also repair VHS machines.
