  1. Hi,

I'm trying to convert some VHS tapes to digital with my setup like this:
VCR player (only has composite out) --> Avermedia DarkCrystal HD Capture Pro C027 PCI-e (composite/component cable converts to HDMI ) --> PC
using the Avermedia MediaCenter 3D software.

All is fine except during bad parts of the VHS, the video jumps or skips (blank screen). However when I played the VHS/VCR on a TV, it plays 'smoothly' even during the same bad parts. So I'm guessing the 'jumps' are because of the capture card?

Any ideas how to overcome this?
Or is it because of the Avermedia capture software?

    Any help truly appreciated!

The problem is the Avermedia C027 itself. Like most HD capture devices, it has trouble locking on to imperfect signals from analog tape sources.

I'll let someone else advise you on what you should buy to stabilize the signal.

For recording poor/damaged tapes, my old Avermedia PCIe M780 worked well.
In most cases it kept on going with barely a hiccup.

Here's an example where it captured a tape, passed through a damaged section as best as it could, and did quite well.

Are you referring to a device called the 'digital video stabilizer' like this?
