  1. Hey all,

I know this is the streaming forum, but I couldn't find any better one to post this. Sorry if its in the wrong one.

I'm trying to record some Olympic events using Get_Iplayer, and everything I've tried has ended in failure. I've searched everywhere, but every bit of advice I've found doesn't work. It seems that the Beeb has found the perfect way of protecting these games.

There was a really complicated way of recording the London games using rtmp dump, it ended up working fine, but was so complex that I can't remember how I did it

Lastly, there appears to be a wall of silence over this. Every time someone asks for help, the few responses give answers that say nothing, or (on a very reputable forum somewhere else), the thread is locked straight away.

Can someone please post simple step-by-step instructions of how to record Rio events, PLEASE!!!! And for non-programmers who are lost and only delve into such mysteries once every 4 years.

I know I'm not the only one asking for this.

    Thanks

  2. yes I'd also like to do the same.

I used the wondershare allmytube downloader software free trial which worked for 3 videos, but I guess someone changed something something and now it doesnt seem to work anymore, at least not for me. Instead the program just gives me a"failed to find video info" or something like that. I was extremely tempted to pay for the program until I learned that the trial version had also installed an adware module unbeknownst to me and even then I had no guarantee it would work after the trial ceased to perform correctly.

Given that the BBC does allow streaming then video capture software must do the trick but I have not been able to find any suitable program.

Are the videos organized somewhere? I see one video that has people in a swimming pool for nearly three solid hours. That one seems to work ok. Is there a central page?

I guess that I'm too stupid to find them. Doing the search you suggested gives me this page

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/group/p04375l6

Which lists three videos. That seems kinda light for a whole olympics thing. Anyway, I give up.

When wanting help downloading video(s), links to the page the contain the videos is really useful information to provide. No one in this thread has done that.

Well, there you go. He has shown that you can use youtube-dl to download 12.46GB of glorious horse dancing. That is 375 minutes in total, but some of that time is shots of people on the grass in folding chairs.

I was constructive right here, in this thread! Notice how help was only able to be provided after you provided a link to a page with a video, which you only managed to do after two separate messages from me prodding you to provide this information!

If I came off as sharp, it was only because I had to ask twice for a link - when you could have easily provided a link from the start.
