A newbie here, having trawled through the forum topics without managing to find an answer to the following query - any help would be greatly appreciated!
Is there software that allows editing/renaming of the *.m2ts files in the original Bluray structure (in the BDMV\STREAM folder) that preserves everything else intact, i.e. Menus, Extras, etc?
As a specific example, I would like to rename a file called "00013.m2ts" to "Deleted Scenes.m2ts" in such a way that when when Deleted Scenes is selected from the main bluray menu the correct video is still played.
I have tried several BD editing/authoring programs, but after changing the file name and making a new BD with ImgBurn either that particular video would no longer play from the main menu, or the new BD would fail to load altogether.
Many thanks in advance for any guidance!

No.
But why even try to do this ? Surely the menu says 'Deleted Scenes' so the disk structure knows what to load. -
As DB83 has said, you should NOT do this if your intent is to further author a "human friendly" title.
The titles are given names automatically by the authoring app when compiled into BD or DVD format, and those names follow a specific pattern that allows STUPID MACHINES to be able to read them easily. Like a ship's cargo manifest, or Amazon warehouse inventory, or gigantic restaurant's seating arrangement (not to equate anything here with stupid machines, mind).
If you are RIPPING, and converting to some other format and want to label them for humans to recognize what to click in a filesystem menu, go for it.

Thanks for the prompt replies everyone.
The reason for my query was simple: I play my BDs in ISO format in Kodi, which doesn't support Java and therefore cannot play BD menus. When you load a BD ISO, Kodi plays the main title by default or alternatively users can select other titles from a list of all the underlying *.m2ts files. It would be much easier to know what Extras one is selecting if the file names could reflect the content, instead of being random numbers.
In other words, I was looking for a workaround to deal with Kodi's lack of Java support for BD menus. It sounds like this is not it. Shame...
Thanks again for your help anyway. If anyone has come across this issue and has a solution, that would be much appreciated! -
Thanks johns0, I have both powerdvd and windvd and use them on my desk/laptops. However, neither works in Linux, which Openelec/Kodi operate under, hence the need to work around the lack of Java menu support in Kodi.
The easiest solution would of course be for someone to come up with Java support for Kodi. There seems to be a project underway but it appears stuck. Maybe it's too difficult to bother with...
