  1. Hi,
I am a total newbie to the world of AV and encoding and I need some help about re-encoding an AVI. It is a 640x272 AVI encoded in XVid, with a fair bit of noise. I would like to re-encode it into x264 and the container of MP4, remove the noise and improve the quality a little bit. I have already fixed a bit of the noise with Avidemux, but in the process, it removed some of the softer lines in the video. After that, I used Movavi video converter to convert it to 1280x720 and I tried using HandBrake to encode it one last time, but I see no big improvement over the original video. I still have the original video, and I would like to start the process all over again with a bit of your help. So, again, my question is, how do I re-encode it into x264 without losing quality, then how do I remove the noise and improve the quality? Also, if it is possible without losing quality, I would like to resize it into 1280x720. By the way, if I can keep the filesize as small as possible, it would be great, but not necessary, I would just like to keep it under 7 GB The original file's filesize is ~700 MB
    Thanks in advance.

  2. Get mediainfo, use it on your source file, find the text and copy paste it here. If possible use avidemux in copy mode and post a small sample of your video.

  4. Warez (illegal downloads) is against the rules here

If you like that movie buy a blu ray or dvd and rip it to another format.

  5. You're not going to improve the quality by much. Some advanced AviSynth filters may help a bit more than the things you've already tried. But you have a steep learning curve there. Upload a 30 second clip of the original file. You can use VirtualDub in Video -> Direct Stream Copy mode to trim out the sample. Then upload it here.

  6. Uh, what led you to the conclusion that it's warez? The file name? If yes, I got it like that on the CD. If you think I bought a pirated copy, I will gladly remove this thread, just tell me.

  7. LOL. Of course it's a pirated copy. Movie studios don't release Xvid AVI files, and certainly not with names of known release groups. Just edit your post and remove the file name.

  8. I didn't mean like that. I live in Serbia. Serbia's markets are pretty much shit. The guy who owns the store that I bought this in, probably burned it with a pirated copy. I don't want to lie to people, yes, it's probably a pirated copy, but I honestly did not know.
