  1. Sup guys. I decided to stop by here for help, hope you don't mind!

Anyway this is a really weird problem I've never encountered before. It persists both with MPC & PotPlayer so I'm guessing it has something to do with the LAV filters or perhaps a setting that was changed automatically? Most of the content I watch is in mkv/ac3, however I just played two similar files and one played normally while the other with no voices. You do hear background music and it seems like 90% of other sounds are not heard.

I really don't know what's happening since I'm no pro. The only thing of suspect I did recently was watch some old files that were in avi and using mp3 for sound. Don't know if that somehow affected any settings, hopefully someone knows which. I'd seriously appreciate any help.

Does it sound okey with VLC Media player (it has built-in audio decoders)?

Maybe some ac3 5.1 audio sound mix problem.

Audio plays fine in VLC, voices and all. Are there any settings I can tinker around with?

  4. Your AC3 downmixer is ignoring the center channel. Or maybe your speaker setup is set to use a center channel speaker and you don't have one. So all the center channel (most dialog) is going nowhere.

  5. Just reinserted the wiring and it's all good now. Must've gotten a little loose, thank god it wasn't the receiver dying or something. ;o
