    Hi all

I have a JVC HR-S7700 which I got for free, but the ribbon cable from the heads is torn. Is there anyway to fabricate a replacement or is there a place where I could buy a replacement cable?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Picture may help us to advise something - probably best advice for now is: replace it with spare part.

Here's a picture. I want to buy spare parts but where can I get them? That's the problem I can't find anyone selling a spare ribbon cable or head assembly.

The glare on the cable makes for a difficult call, but it looks like the conductor is not cut.

  5. I'd scrape a bit of the coating off the broken segments and solder a wire onto them.

2 connections on the cable are cut.

I'm afraid to solder on to it because I think it will just melt the cable.

  7. Yes it will melt the cable - I've done it once but I was very very lucky.
My prefered method now is to make a small piece of copper ribbon cable - attatch it to the broken strip with glue - scrape the surfacace
of the ribbon and make a connection using conductive paint. When totally dry (be careful and wait) place a small blob of silica jell on
    top -
Obviously adjust the instruction depending on your exact needs but the basic method has worked a couple of times.

  10. On your place I would fix this tape by connecting point to point with very fine enameled wire. Can be difficult but doable.
Alternatively recreate whole tape from very fine enameled wire, you can replace connector for something that allow to detach capstan.

But at first i would give a call/check on https://www.donberg.ie/

    HI,
You could try scraping the coating and using conductive paint/paste used for repairing circuit boards etc
