I thought I'd post a link to this YouTube video for anyone who's interested.

It covers the basics and maybe not so basics of image capture (lenses, sensors etc) and human perception in respect to the quality of "moving" pictures.
I found one of the comments amusing (not being terribly fussed about UHD myself). He mentioned the most common thing you could hear people saying while viewing 4k displays at NAB 2014 was "Oh, is that 4k?"
The video talks about higher resolution vs higher dynamic range vs higher frames rates vs wider colour gamut along with pros and cons for each. It's about an hour long but it's not overly technical. I could understand it......
