Yesterday I had 4 emails appear in Mozilla Thunderbird Junk folder and marked them as not junk which should move them to the Inbox. Two were moved to Inbox as expected, but the other two disappeared. Today two more emails in the Junk folder were marked as not junk, and they disappeared too. I checked Charter online email too, and all the vanished emails are nowhere to be found. Is this a Thunderbird bug, or does anybody know a solution to this problem?

Check to see if thunderbird moved them to a different folder.

Never heard of any 'Internet Security' deleting emails for Thunderbird.

Maybe you should contact Mozilla with a bug report for your version.
If it feels good, do it. -
i've got all my email from 2007 til now and never lost a single one using thunderbird. i'd suspect user error.

Not in any folder in Thunderbird or Charter online email. Right click email in junk folder, select Mark, choose "As Not Junk," and the message vanishes. What is the user error in doing this? Every email in junk folder from 2 friends now vanishes when marked as not junk. However, marking email from Yahoo as not junk sends the message to Inbox as is expected.

I have confirmed that it does that for me also. Version 40.0.2

I called Mozilla support, left a voice mail message a couple of days ago, but they haven't returned the call. Today I decided to install Thunderbird version 38.2.0 from the Mozilla site, had the 2 friends send me a test email, and the emails went directly to the inbox as they should. This appears to have fixed the problem I was having. I must have been using a buggy version or version that had become corrupted.

Excellent suggestion! The only one checked was Personal Address Book which must be the default setting, and the two friends' emails being marked as junk and vanishing when marked as not junk were in the Address Book. My t-bird junk settings are a little different from what you show, and mine has Address Book, Collected Addresses and Personal Address Book. Hopefully my checking all 3 address book folders will prevent recurrence of this kind of problem.
