Why is the picture jerky after i convert it using speed ripper, dvd2avi and TMPGenc? I use the highest settings for quality and yet when i play back the film, it looks like its running at about 15fps.

first of all, what was the video source type (as indicated by dvd2avi's info file)
was it NTSC, interlaced or FILM, progressive? encoding it as wrong type could have probs
also, check your field order, that can also create problems
