Hi, I just picked up an Epson XP-420 printer at Staples for $59. I see amazon is carrying it also for $59 dollars.

Features support for color and Black cartridge (I only need black and got that) and wifi for tables and other mobile devices. I got it so that I could learn how to send custom invoices from an app (for android) that I am working on in delphi xe7. This is new territory for me. It seems there is not much support for printing from an android or mobile devices but that is also changing since people (like myself) need to print invoices and other things from mobile devices. Anyway. I have not opened the product yet. I am researching futher in case I need to return this one for something in line with my needs.
I am learning that wifi printers require some external or outside source (to register with, ie dropbox) in order to print via wifi. I am trying to stear away from that avenue since I believe data sent via internet is no longer private, especially through public accounts like these. There must be some other way of printing to your own wifi printer.
So, what I am asking here, is for what other way can I set up a wifi printer that can let me (and my clients) print to it directly without having to resort to some outside source.
You know, something like send to http:\\192.168.1.2:8080 or something like that. Again, I am new to this sort of function.
Thank you.

Don't know how far you got with your research, but this should have all your answers

This guy claims he can print directly to a printer with the RAW protocol, probably depends on the printer

This: "I am learning that wifi printers require some external or outside source (to register with, ie dropbox) in order to print via wifi."
is not true. I can print directly to my wi fi printer with my android tablet without an outside source. You do need an android app however. I use PrinterShare found on the Google Play Store.
