    Hello guys,

last year I posted a similar question, but maybe too complex: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/374096-Karaoke-effects-on-superimposed-subs

So I'd like to simplify it this way:

I would like to add separated subs in ass format (advanced sub station alpha), with effects, to a Blu-Ray Disc.
Do you think it is possible to keep the effects?

  2. The BluRay specs don't support ASS. You have to either
    a.) hardcode into the video
b.) convert to BluRay subtitle format (e.g. using avs2bdnxml)

Note that BluRay subtitle format has certain limits (similar to how you have restrictions on H.264 levels for BluRay video tracks) so you can only keep effects to a minimum. Karaoke is usually too complex.

In short: not possible. Either hardcode or use mkv+ass in a good HTPC instead of BluRay.

Thank you sneaker. No softsub, then.
Well, I'll continue to hardsub with Xvid4Psp, it's a good way to keep karaoke effects.
