  1. Hello,
I did do a search and had difficulty in finding this topic.

Was it ever discovered why Sony made it so you could not burn a Blu-Ray disc with a menu IF you wanted it to be in 5.1 surround?

Has anything changed in regards to this? I would like to burn a Blu-Ray with a menu that is in 5.1 surround. Does the newer version of Movie Studio offer this functionality? Would it benefit me to upgrade?

    Thank you for your time

  2. You have to upgrade to the pro version of DVDA if you want 5.1 with menus . You can do it without menus with the studio version

Why? Probably they want more money from you

  3. Thanks for your reply.

That seems like a silly thing for Sony to hang over our heads. They offer it for DVD, why not Blu-Ray?

Does an updated version of Vegas Movie Studio fix this issue or just DVDA? I wish Sony or someone would post the year to year changes in the last several versions.

Oh, that's wonderful! Thank you, thank you!

Looking over the changelog, I was struck by this entry:

    Notable fixes/changes in version 11.0 (Build 295)
Updated Sony AVC format render template customization to support AVCHD 2.0.
Added a Blu-ray AVC setting to the Video format drop-down list in the Customize Settings dialog, allowing you to customize Sony AVC render templates for Blu-ray Disc.
The Tools > Burn Disc > Blu-ray Disc with Menus command is unavailable when working with 5.1 surround projects.

Does this mean that prior to Build 295, this was an available option, to burn a Blu-Ray with a menu in 5.1 surround? Did they take it out for some reason?

No, SCS probably added that line just to clear things up re VMSP 11. Still valid in MSP 13.
VMSP 10 did not even have a Tools > Burn Disc > Blu-ray Disc with Menus command.

OK, thank you again, both of you for clearing that up for me.

Guess I need to buy DVDA pro...
