    I tried Zamzar and some free tool called Freemake Video Converter, but Zamzar changed video's resolution while Freemake changed the framerate despite selecting an option to keep it original. So is there a trustworthy tool to do this? I need to convert to .avi so that I can later process it with AviSynth.

    But is it worth the efforts, or is it so compressed that further editing will make it even worse? Where is it from?
