Here's the problem. I have a movie that is 680 MB. Well, it's too big to burn as it is to a VCD. I have read the tutorials for cutting an avi file, and well it didn't help me. I downloaded VirtualDub. When trying to split the video with it, I can't see the video. I mean I click on play and can hear the sound but no picture. Then I went and downloaded VCDCutter and that didn't help either. I followed the steps, and I can't add it to the clip list. With VCDCutter, I can see the video when I scan the frames, but can't split. With VirtualDub, I can split the video, but I can't see the video to make a perfect split. Someone please help me.

if the movie is in vcd mpg format, you can fit upto 740mb of data onto a 74min disc

Error in the first post.
One movie is 908 MB and is a mpg (I converted this from the avi). The other is 680 MB and is an avi.
I can't burn the first one since it is to large for the disc. I can't split it, since none of the programs that I have tried are working. So what can I do with the first movie? As far as the second, would it be better to convert it to a mpg, then split it, then burn it as a vcd? Sorry I'm new to this. All the movies that I have are in avi format, and I'm trying to get them all to be the best quality as possible, with only placing each movies on no more then 2 discs. -

TMPGEnc works perfectly well for splitting MPEG files.
Under File/MPEG Tools, there s a Cutting and Joining section.
As for converting DIVX to VCDs, a combination of Virtual Dub, frameserved to TMPGEnc does work well. You may lose a little bit in quality though.
If all you want to do is play your own Divx files onto your tv, think about a scan converter (outputs the content of your screen) or a video card with a decent tv out (like a Matrox G550 or a Geforce for instance).
