Im trying to convert old VHS video to digital...Now I purchased the software and hard ware needed to do this...However, now I am experiencing these problems, with said equiptment......
The original VHS video was filmed in colour...... The conversion is in Black and White only.
I cannot play back uploaded converted VHS video now on my laptop, even though the files are stored in my Windows Library under the Pictures and Video sub categories, so couldn't access them at all.
Would any one be kind enough to advise me upon the best Hardware to use to convert my video to even be able to play back on my laptop, let alone download on a DVD?
I was considering buying an EZ Cap 116, however although I have been scanning various reviews, I cannot determine if the conversion is actually in colour, its a simple question, and I find no answers to it..
Also, the actual VHS VIDEO's are copied from original video tape, (their priceless family times), so Im guessing I will need a higher pixel resolution to get the best possible conversion, with least distortion..
Obviously, I will purchase the best possible media to do the job, but also I really do not wish to be ripped off with any purchase, so I would appreciate all any any helpful advice you may offer.. Please also consider U.K equipment may differ from that of other world products
Thank you for your time.

Is the original tape in NTSC format? If you don't know what that means, then did it come from the USA, Canada or Japan? Other places use NTSC but those are the most likely ones you might have a tape from.

What hardware and software have you been using? How are you connecting to the VCR? Did your tapes originate in the UK or elsewhere?
