OK, so the latest version of MakeMKV has acquired the ability to rip Blu Ray Text Subtitles. Apparently no one had ever presented them with an example of its use before so what we know about them is pretty much nothing. As far as I'm aware no program can play the things and for the most part, until the latest release of MakeMKV very few programs would even touch the things even for remuxing/extraction (TSRemux being the only one I know of).

So, other than MakeMKV, Mosu is currently working on supporting these subtitles in MKVToolNix and VLC has shown interest in actually rendering them on playback. It's still early days and a lot of the details haven't been figured out yet (like how to store the fonts in a way that's compatible with the Matroska vision) but the most pressing issue at this point is a lack of examples.

So far, I personally have four Blu Rays that I know of with these subtitles in them (The Mummy 1, 2 and 3 and The Scorpion King) but they're all rather basic implementations of the format. If anyone knows of or has access to any other titles with these subtitles inside we'd all like to know about it. Any samples that can be provided would be appreciated and the more complicated the formatting of the text streams the better.
