  1. Sony BPD-S790 bluray/DVD player w/ Netflix.
Only has 4 special characters & NO upper case letters (AFAIK) to select from its on-screen keypad, to enter the network wireless router's WPA2 key. Least, don't see a way to enter upper case from the on-screen keypad.

I use a long, random, alpha-numeric & spec. chars router key.

Are most other mfg's of streaming players with wireless router connection, also this limited in the available characters & only offer lower case letters, or just Sony?

Or do some brands of players offer more or less an on-screen full keyboard, plus upper case letters?

How to find out different brands' capabilities on this, w/o hooking them up?

Aside from drastic reduction in bit strength of the key (tailoring my router key to suit what a Sony player allows), I'd have to change the key in all other devices connected to the router.

    Suggestions?

Change the key or change the player.

  3. What is your router? Does it have a WPS button? If it does follow the instructions on page 18 of the manual.

I would not worry about it too much, seriously who would want to bother breaking into your private network? And if someone really wants to take effort to break into your system then WPA2 is not going to prevent them.
