I am a user of Ulead Video Studio 11 using Windows XP. I recently purchased a new computer with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. My present VideoStudio 11 will not load properly, generating errors. I downloaded both 64 bit and 32 bit free downloads of Video Studio Pro x7 and they wouldn’t load either—both generating errors. Is there a version which will work with Windows 7? Are there alternatives?

Sony Movie Studio Platinum or Premiere Elements. Both sold at discount everywhere.

Corel bought Ulead in 2006. Corel Video Studio Pro X7 and Corel Video Studio Ultimate X7 are the most recent versions of the Video Studio product line and are supposed to be compatible with Windows 7 64-bit editions. If your new PC meet all its recommended hardware requirements, then likely there is something incompatible already installed on your PC. Sometimes video-related products interfere with each other or there is a codec problem. Did you install any codec packs?
Yes, there are alternatives. You were already provided with some. -
'Generated Errors' is not the most helpful comment you could make.
I have used older versions of these products. While they should install and run independently, it it is possible that there is a conflict with earlier versions. Something that I did experience or atleast did get some error message. But that was x years ago so do not even expect me to remember.
The 'fix' was to :
1. UnInstall the program
2. Delete all the temporary files that corel/ulead install in the 'Documents/My Documents Folders'
3. Delete all registry entries for these programs
4. Do likewise for any previous versions
5. Reinstall the program -
Oh. I should add a rather important point.
if you are talking about Ulead as opposed to Corel Branded products, they do NOT work past WinXP.
So people on the dedicated Ulead/Corel forum claim to get them to work but the consensus, and official view, is that they do not.
If you must use them, you either run XP in a Non-MS virtual machine under Win7 or, since you have Pro Version you can install MS's XP virtual system - download from MS. Or you simply dual boot with both Win7 or XP. -
I just discovered a solution to my problem. I usually disable Avast, but didn't realize that Malawarebytes and AdAware were running in the background. I disabled them and the Corel install went OK. This was also the reason that the Windows Media Player wouldn't load.

IIRC they DO suggest that you turn of AV to install.
Now I would be quite interested to know that they work as before. ie You can capture analog as well as edit existing video. -
It's going to take me a while to get used to the software to really use it. It's quite different from what I'm used to. Just hacking through it doesn't seem to uncover any problems

Now you confuse me. What have you installed X7 - which will work - or V11 which you claim to have used before but I doubt will.

I installed Corel Video Studio Pro X7. It wouldn't install until I shut off all the antivirus. I'm hoping it will be a good replacement for Ulead Video Studio 11.
