I recorded four videos with my new elgato, all on the Wii U. The first one was fine. The second one was a still shot, with music in the background that was slowed down. The third one was completely corrupted. It was so glitchy it was unwatchable, and the sound was almost 20 seconds off sync. The fourth video was fine, but way off sync. What's happening? My computer meets the bare minimum of what the Game Capture HD needs, and the only other program I was running was audacity to capture the sound. Is my computer not powerful enough even still? Are there setting I need to switch?

I am having serious performance problems with this card (got it about 1 month ago).
Which version of the software are you using?
What I learnt so far is that their newest software ver (2.10.36) is a lot more stable (i don't have to often wait 10minutes to start the card as in 2.01.XX vers) and, when using DXVA for previewing (the default mode), seems corruption doesn't happen (have not had any so far using DXVA).
The downside of this recent ver here is that I'll get 15 fps + stuterring previews, with or without dxva on.
But quite franquily, any version 2.01.XX was a nightmare here, for many times I even though the card was malfunctioning. Very slow initializations (like 15 minutes of wait), constant corrupted frames, sometimes totally corrupt as in ur case. Sometimes the corruption would even lead to a 'card total papnic' where the software would not recognize it anymore unless I disconnected to restart.
From the 2.01.XX set, the one that gave me less problems was 2.01.53, but i still had small corruptions goin on (but not total colapse like ur case, that only on .54 and newer).
Anyways, if you are not using 2.10.xx i recommend trying it and *hold your breath* if u get a 15fps preview. And if it all goes fine, including the preview fps, come back and tell me please?
Ps: My computer does cover more than the minimum required, i5 750 + 8gb ram.
