For years DVD Shrink has been the tool of my choice for ripping DVD, my favourtite aspect is the re-authour tool that allows you to just rip a sction of your choice.
However SHRINK seems a little outdated now and doesnt seem be removing the PROTECTION

I still use DVDShrink with AnyDVD running in the background when necessary to remove the copy protection DVD Shrink can't deal with. AnyDVD isn't free. Someone may be able to suggest a free program that'll rip DVDs to the standard format you can then open and re-author with DVD Shrink.
Or there's MakeMKV. If you're happy with MKV. I'm pretty sure it'll rip just the movie or individual episodes as individual MKVs etc (no re-encoding). -
A good free alternative to AnyDVD is DVDFab HD Decrypter, (freeware).
Also Passkey lite

It's not important the problem be solved, only that the blame for the mistake is assigned correctly -

CloneDVD with AnyDVD. The best combo available at the moment, in my opinion. Slysoft/Elby.
