  1. Located in the UK and have Sky Sat box, Tivo Cable, LG Bluray with streaming services (Now TV, Netflix, Amazon etc.) - these are fed into a Matrix HDMI switch and then onto an HDMI/Component Converter - audio is fed via optical into another matrix designed for optical audio. All the above devices work perfectly and recording to the PC via Hauppauge 1512 gives excellent results. I just switch inputs to select a source and have had no problems..... until now!

Purchased an Apple TV box yesterday and it works fine when fed through the above system as long as the signal goes from the 2nd Matrix output to the TV, when its directed to the HDPVR, I get nothing. I've tried different resolutions 720p @ 50&60hz, 576 @ 50&60hz, turned Dolby output on/off/auto and can't think of anything else.

I'm wondering if the ATV has HDMI 1.4 and that maybe this is somehow causing a problem.

Anyway, any help would be appreciated

This is a decent question and I thought maybe somebody else would have something better to say in response, but since nobody has bothered to reply, maybe what little I have to say is better than nothing.

First of all, unless you are huge Apple fanboy or you have iTunes videos, Apple TV is really a fairly crummy product. Various other similar boxes like the Western Digital media streamers and Roku are much better choices. But I'll assume you have a strong reason for Apple TV like maybe you do have a bunch of iTunes videos.

I checked and Apple's own website reports that the Apple TV only supports HDMI 1.3 but it comes with a 1.4 cable. Apparently the use of the 1.4 cable is so that 5.1 audio can be delivered over the cable. I don't think the cable is your problem here. I can tell you that Hauppauge's devices that are capable of recording HDMI will NOT record anything that is encrypted. Perhaps Apple TV sends all its video over HDMI in encrypted format, but that's just a guess.
