This seems to be a physical problem for me working with AVI Synth (?). Working the slider seems to be so finely tuned that it gives me a pain in the mouse hand (arthritic.)
In DVD Shrink one can set the start and stop frame for an edit of a dvd.
How can this be done in an AVI file?
I realize this is a noob question but I no longer am up to date on tools available.

VirtualDub and use the keyboard arrow keys to advance one frame at a time. AVIDemux may also work similar, haven't tried it that way.
EDIT: You may already be aware that with many AVI type formats you may not have 'frame accurate editing' as you may have with MPEG formats.
Highly compressed formats like Divx or H.264 are a couple of examples.Last edited by redwudz; 9th Nov 2014 at 16:20.

Virtualbud has a "Go to Frame "window where you can enter the frame number or time.

Yes it does.
Top Menu: Go -> Go to Frame...- My sister Ann's brother -
Yes. I misspoke. Virtual Dub or Mod (I'm not looking at it at the moment) is the one giving me a cramp.
I will try your suggestions. I should have known this prog. would have such an option but I've only used a feature or two and that with my hand held by hello-hello or one of the others.
If I had a 100 minute film and wanted to get minutes 26 through 35 and had the frames
how would I do the operation in steps?
