    can anyone here suggest a easy slideshow program which can be burnt as a dvd with music I have already tried DVDsGUI0954 and Foto2Avi_Setup_42 but had problems with them both or found them too hard

    For DVD, Photodex Proshow or MemoriesOnTV; both are capable and not difficult. The former has more capability. The latter is a little easier to use, IMO, and has a nice "Ken Burns" effect. Neither are free. If you want free, stick with DVD Slideshow GUI a bit longer to get the hang of it.

    Though it may be too difficult for you, I like to do my SlideShows in an NLE. A very good free one is Aviutl. I used it to make this example:
