I used dvdfab 9 to convert MKV to DVD with imported subs (srt). The resulting subs were frayed (pixalated on the edges). Any ideas to get them sharp?

    Use a better converter?

SRT subs are produced by the player, so then the player would be the problem.
But I'm assuming you converted them to a different subtitle format. If so, then it would be a problem with the conversion.

  4. DVD subs are always ragged because they are low resolution, low color images.

  5. If you made a DVD (DVDFab 9 - DVD Creator) your SRT are converted to IDX/SUB which are the format used on a DVD. These are image based and tend to look pixelated. If you want sharp looking subtitles you could hardcode them.

I guess that's the problem. However when I use TMPGEnc the subs are very sharp indeed.
