Hi!
I am using Hulu for some of my favorite shows like Family Guy. As I spend a lot of times in trains and I am boredI wanted to know if there is a way to watch shows offline on my tablet!?
Currently I am only using the free Hulu version, but is it possible if I would change to Hulu plus? Or is there another way how I could get some episodes? Thank you!

You can try RTMPDumpHelper. But I'm sure downloading videos from Hulu violates their ToS...and downloading any copyrighted material even if you pay for it is a moral and legal grey area.

Typically in this case a person would to have to use a streaming media recorder like Replay Video Catcher and save the output to a file. You'd have to record in real time so a 30 minute show takes 30 minutes to record. Doing such is probably a violation of Hulu's terms of service so my advice should not be construed as actually encouraging you to do that if doing so violates their TOS where you live.
I think Hulu Plus gives you access to some shows you can't get for free and high definition streaming, but it has the drawback of more adds than you can believe for a paid service. You can count on 90 seconds of adds with every break in the video. Downloading to anything and watching later is not supported under Hulu Plus.
Yes, there are always other ways to get episodes, but talking about that puts us in an area where this website does not approve. -
Yes, and asking how to capture regular Hulu is apparently OK, but asking how to capture video from Hulu Plus is specifically forbidden by this forum's rules.
Do NOT talk about copying rented material
You are not allowed to rip/copy/record rented video. It includes streaming rented video like netflix, itunes, hulu plus, etc. -
Yes I agree the only working solution (I guess) is to use a screen recorder for that. Also you would have to pay if you want a good output. Personally I can recommend you Audials Moviebox, I made very good results with that. Its 20 bugs and during recording your computer can usually not be used for doing anything else. These are the drawbacks..
Hulu plus is not really worth the money. I mean if you actually pay for a service and as a reward you get bombarded with ads
If you want to pay for a service I would recommend you Netflix where you actually get some value for your money. But as jman said this wouldn't lead you to get an offline version of your video. Online streaming is part of the deal.. -
Ou really? I was not aware of that but of course Hulu doesn't want you to download their shows. Question is if it is illegal to do so by recording the screen. A ripper should be kinda illegal though
Well... I tried the Dumphelper but didn't succeed, I gonna try Audials and Repay. I should add that both are not free but there are trial versions. Audials Moviebox Full version is about 20 and Replay 40.

PlayOn's PlayLater may do what you want.

Well, since this forum has a rule that specifically says discussions about recording Hulu Plus aren't allowed, it is probably best to assume that all recording methods (including screen recording) are covered by the rule.
...but like I wrote earlier, the rule in question apparenty doesn't apply to free streaming services like Hulu's non-paid section.Last edited by usually_quiet; 12th Sep 2014 at 10:48. Reason: clarity

I'm trying to download this documentary (free), it's being a struggle.

I tried with the RTMPDumpHelper method (several different versions), but I get the same issues as these guys. Tried StreamTransport, URLSnooper, etc without success. I don't think I would want to capture screen, that is something that IMO should be avoided at all costs. -

Is it illegal to record Hulu/Hulu plus by analog inputs from a Roku LT via EZcap? Oh darn it I was under the impression that was like DVRing Television and have been doing it. I guess I will probably have to stop and erase all my recordings, I never realized it was wrong. I had read somewhere that recording through analog inputs is legal.

No doubt it is illegal in some places, but even if it weren't, this website's owner can set whatever rules he wants. Talking about recording Hulu is OK under this forum's rules since it is free, not a rental service. On the other hand, Hulu Plus isn't free, and is specifically mentioned in this forum's rules regarding rentals.
Recording a rental doesn't qualify as time shifting because the ability to choose a convenient time to watch is built in to the product. So, no it isn't the same as DVRing TV, where programming is not always aired at a time when it is convenient to watch.Last edited by usually_quiet; 5th Oct 2014 at 10:26. Reason: fix typos
