    do i need to convert the avi file to mpeg before i burn??

    i tried to use nero 5.5.3.5 but the video is not very good and i hear noises in the audio, the avi file was perfect.....

    do you have any sugesstions?

  2. If you want to make a Video CD ( VCD ), then you have to convert the avi to mpeg.

    If you want to make a regular CD with an avi, then burn it as a data cd. Not as a VCD.

    I too have had a similar experience with Nero making a VCD that was really poor and "pops" in the audio. I'm not aware of any settings within Nero to remedy this.

    Use TMPGEnc and create the MPEG-1 first, then copy the MPEG-1 to VCD using Nero. This should work for you.

    I've tried this TMEGEnc thingy... and some videos are hecka slow while encoding... whereas some goes rather smoothly... why is this???
