i am using the typical process smartripper-dvd2avi-tmpgenc,
when i play the dvd rip svcd / mpg file with elecard player the audio is in sync in the opening scene, and then the name of the movie pops up and the rest of the movie begins, at this point the audio is out of sync.
the movie is (am3r1c4n p1 2), i have ripped several dvd movies and have not has this problem in the past.
i am using dvd2avi 1.76, force film, audio decode,
i am running win xp professional (just recently upgraded), and i know that i had to get elecard player to play the svcd/mpg files because win media player wouldnt play the mpeg2 files.
the guide i have used successfully in the past is
http://www.dvdripguides.com/dvdmenu.html
i have always been happy with this method, since the picture is very good and the encode time is only about 5 hours on a p4 1.3ghz machine using the ntsc force film method,
any feedback on the audio sync problem would be appreciated
thx
tim

i tried running dvd2avi again, this time with the audio setting set to demux, this created a .ac3 file for the audio, and i used it for the input audio in tmpgenc, i encoded the first 6 minutes of "am pie2" and the audio sync problem is still there. and from the earlier try, i realized that the audio sync problem appeared to get worse the further i got into the movie, does anyone know a better way to extract audio from vob files????

Sounds like the same problem I am having. See my post under author petrmich. form this morning 3-9-02.
Is your sync problem only happening when creating a SVCD? -
yes. i havent tried to encode anything else besides svcd. i'm wondering if this dvd is just hard to rip ??
i tried something i read in an earlier post, when running dvd2avi, i tried it with force film off, and put the audio back to decode, and ran dvd2avi, and then encoded the first 8 minutes with tmpgenc, using ntsc template from dvdripguides.com , now the picture is awful and the audio sync problem is still there.
thx

i've encoded both w/ no problems....both of them should be forced film ON in dvd2avi...
you should try an earlier version of dvd2avi, some ppl are saying the latest version of dvd2avi is giving audio sync problems
