The link you have provided is a "reference" file used by Quicktime to thwart off people trying to download the actual file.

Here is what I do to download Quicktime Trailers from sites such as this:

First, when you click on a Trailer link it will typically load a new page or even a new window. View the source of this file either by right-clicking and selecting "View Source" or if the Menu Bar is available, select "Source" from the "View" menu.

Once you have the source HTML opened, do a search for ".mov". In many cases you will find two references to a ".mov" file. One will have the width dimension in the name such as 320 or 480 while the other may have something like "ref" included in the file name. Copy the full path for the one with the dimensions (from 'http' all the way to the end of '.mov').

Now, for the next part you have two choices:

    1) Create a new HTML page and use the path you copied above as the source of a link (A href). Load this file in your browser and right-click and select "Save target".

    2) Use a downloader such as NetVampire and create a new job with the path you copied earler. Set the download location and start the job.

That should be all there is to it.

It looks like you are trying to get the new "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" trailer. I was able to download this very trailer using the process I described above.

    I hope that helps.

  3. You know, I owe you an apology because while I had downloaded "A" Jay and Silent Bob Trailer I hadn't actually downloaded the one you were referring to.

I went and took a look and now I know what you are talking about. The site refers to a "ref" MOVie file that actually has a link within it as reference to the actual Quicktime file. Viewing the source of the web page will NOT help you here.

Well, I wasn't ready to give up so I downloaded this "reference" MOVie file and then loaded it in Quicktime. Well, that didn't do much good... I thought maybe it would have some embeded property that would give me the link to the actual file. No such luck.

So, I decided to load the file in Notepad. Sure enough, there was a reference to a "silentbob_T1.mov" file. Most of the code was unreadable and I couldn't make out a path but I simply added the file name "silentbob_T1.mov" at the end of the path you included in your original post and voila, I had it.

With this full link you can now follow the steps I described earlier.

Here is the link... you can simply right-click and save or put it in NetVampire or any other Downloader if you want.

I downloaded this file during lunch and it is the one you are looking for. Its about 25MB so if you are on Dial-Up get ready for an extended wait period.

    Enjoy!

There may be one of two different problems that may be affecting the "View Source" command in Internet Explorer.

    1) Can not find "notepad.exe"

Resolution: Do a search for "notepad.exe" and copy it into your "Internet Explore" folder (usually found in C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer).

If that doesn't work then you can safely delete "notepad.exe" ONLY from your Internet Explorer folder (just make sure you didn't do a MOVE instead of a COPY earlier).

    2) Internet Explorer can't find your TEMP or TMP path

Resolution: Try the suggestion in the following Microsoft KB Article:

    http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q179/8/29.ASP

I belive this article is referring to Windows 9x and ME. If you are using Windows 2000, you will follow the same steps until you get to the "System" applet within Control Panel. From there go to the "Advanced" Tab and follow much of the same directions given in the Microsoft KB article to change your TMP path.

    I hope this helps.

You don't have to actually download quicktime movies from the source code for the most part. All you have to do is type in the key word from the address, the one that labels the video you are watching, in this case silentbob, into your MS "Find" function. You will find this in the Temporary Internet Files. Just copy it and paste it somewhere much easier to find. Becuase if you notice you have to wait until it is partially or totally downloaded to view, it is just downloaded automatically to the temp folder. That is why when you visit the site again it automatically plays instead of downloading unless you did disk cleanup.

  7. ok to much hard work.

just get a keygen for the version of quicktime you have installed.

then look at it normally in your browser. once it downloads the entire clip just right click it and save it.

    very easy.

  11. All you do is : download the movie and go to your start button and to find. click files or folders.just go to browse and go to your Temporary Internet Files folder. click "find now".

all the files in your internet temp folder will appear and guess what? the movie will be there. i just downloaded it, and there it is! that's the file name : silentbob_ISDN[1]
    Just like Sullen said.

But guess what? you can also go to
    http://www.jurassicpunk.com/
and look for the trailer there..
