Anyone know of any AVI capturing software at 480 x 480 for the ATI Tv wonder (pci) card??
I have tried many of the big names and I LOVE powervcr2 but it can't capture in AVI format!!! Argghh! Is there a work around/patch/upgrade to allow this miraculous codec???
I want to produce high-quality svcds of video tape taken, but ati's software limits you to the ***x240 range! ( gag). I want to capture raw, uncompressed avi , 480x480. Then convert it to mpeg later on.
Can any of you vets reccomend a good capture proggy???
Thanx for all your help!

WinXP, eh? Well, under Windows 98, it is much easier. Under NT the fun starts. You will have to install WDM drivers from here:
http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/download.html
Note that before that you have to uninstall all ATI TV Wonder drivers. Say goodbye to S-Video but you will be able to capture at any resolution.
I strongly recommend using disk imaging proggy to back up your system in case something goes wrong. I had to restore many times before I got it right. Otherwise driver conflicts can screw up the stability. -
Just get iuVCR. Install it and have fun. Here is the url:http://www.iulabs.com/eng/index.shtml. You may not want to mess with the custom driver, might just cause a headache!
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -
Ok..maybe I should have mentioned I am using a dual boot set up.: Win98se and Windows xp.
The xp side, forget it. Nothing but heart ache. Win 98se side, works liek a dream right from the start.
Uivcr i heard about but I figure is only good for win2000 , xp. So thats no go.
Thanx again guys, for all your help.!

iuVCR solved many problems for me running win2000. If you want to use NTFS for unlimited size captures, you should check it out. The demo is free.

I have the ATI TV Wonder VE and use VirtualDub with the WDM drivers from source forge to capture up to 640x480. This is under Win2k. I had the same setup under 98SE but it wasn't nearly as stable and the limited file size was a pain. Digitizer is right about getting all the ATI drivers off your system. See pcphotovideo.com for some good info on this. Hope this helps.[/url]

If you really want to try something differnt use free vcr. I have used it for over a year with great results. You can get it from the tool section. What you have to do is download the vfw drivers for free vcr to work. Works great with my ati card. You can get the drivers from the ati web site. just look for mmc6.2 or do a search for the ati all in wonder 128 this should lead you to the right drivers to download. Matter of fact here is the site and the driver is 4.12.6292. This will only work in win 98.
