adding subtitles to multiple episode TV DVD

I have never found a tool or process to add new subtitles to a DVD. Someone here suggested converting the DVD to an MKV and then adding the subtitles. This works for films (btw, is there any tool to convert it back to a DVD?), but a DVD containing two or more episodes of a television show, I don't think this will work.

Does anyone know any way to do this (and to convert an MKV back to a DVD)?

If that's not what you want then you will need to do a better job of explaining exactly what you do want.

Thanks. That probably would work, but this is the Mac forum (which is the computer I have) and I had hoped for a solution without having to install a different operating system.

Crap. I missed that you clearly posted this, as you should, in the Mac forum. My apologies.

You're SOL on a Mac. Unless you want to do some convoluted way that will destroy your menus and force you to re-make the entire disc. If you want to do it the easy way, the tools only exist under Windows.

That's OK. Actually I don't post here very often as switching subtitles is almost the last DVD area where the Mac OS has few or no tools. Using one tool, I can convert a DVD to a MKV and using a second tool, I can switch subtitles. It's quite easy and quite quick compared to the Windows system. I'd like to convert the resulting MKV back to a DVD, but it maintains quality and it can easily be played back on a Mac, so it's not really a problem if it stays an MKV.

Actually, I was hoping that a Mac user here had already tried doing this with MKVMerge, the tool I use to add (and remove) subtitles. Since, I hope, the MKV will retain the structure of the DVD (ie, the episodes), the tool might be able to add the subtitles per episode.

I do appreciate your effort to be helpful, but this is the second time this has happened to me: post a question in the Mac forum and get a Windows reply and, it seems to me the structure of this forum could be improved to prevent that happening so easily.
