I ripped my entire movie collection in mkv container. I downloaded cover art and muxed it with mkvmergeGUI. Also I used MkvTagger to download and embed movie metadata in file (genre, actors...). So now entire movie is in just one file (video, audio, cover and subtitles).
Is there any free media center that can read cover and metadata directly from mkv file? I tried XBMC, Plex and Media Portal, but with no luck. I know that they can fetch info form the Internet, but that's not what I need. I found that even VLC player have problems with mkv tags (only last actor and genre are displayed).
Sorry for my bad English

I don't see why is mkv container so poorly supported by players. It's opensource and probably the best container out there

Most players support mkv. But you are using advanced features of the format that aren't commonly used. Most people are worried about the codec/video quality and/or file size, not special features of the container.
I don't know of any players that handle those options, and you've already tested the popular ones.Google is your Friend
